Meat and Wine Co (South Bank)

Along the Southbank, beside the red staircase of Melbourne and next to TGIF stands the three story Meat and Wine Co (which is also located in other areas such as Hawthorn). The restaurant is a high priced, fine dining restaurant focused on steak, ribs and burgers and I would definitely recommend. They don't allow bookings on Saturday nights and I would say that's due to their busy service, I guess first come first serve? My family and I had to wait an hour till we were seated but on the bright side, food and service was speedy. Once seated, we were given our menu, had ordered and our entree and mains were served within 20-30 minutes.

The restaurant is designed so that the bar is sandwiched between two dining rooms. We were seated on the first floor in a dim lit room where the kitchen was visible behind glass. It was quite loud due to the crammed space and on top of that, they had soothing instrumental playing in the background too. It was bearable though, not complaining.

We had ordered garlic bread, which I wasn't a fan of since I prefer soft garlic bread, two plates of fillet steak and I had the hand pressed premium beef burger which was divine. They could probably work on their chips, too average to meet the restaurant's standards. Crisper would have been nicer and I don't usually eat red meat but the fillet steak was tender and amazing. What really stole my heart with this place was the Creme Brulee we had in the end. Many restaurants may serve Creme Brulee but I have to say this was the best I've ever tasted. Something about it was different, it was a lot thicker, in tact and less runny like the structure of creme caramel. On top of that it was served with balsamic macerated strawberries coated with icing sugar. Must try.

Hand-Pressed Premium Beef Burger $23
Monte Grain Fillet Steak 200g $34
Creme Brulee $12
