Newly opened in August 2013, A La Folie specialises in two of the finest delicacies; macaroons and petite choux, baked to perfection. Okay maybe not the greatest extent of delicacies but how can you not like the sound of macaroons and cream puffs? It stands along Chapel St, just off the corner from Soda Rock and designed to fit in the modern, luxurious side of Melbourne. The waiter we had, I could affirm, had a french accent or european of some sort and if that's not appealing already, I dont know what else to say.

They have a variety of macaroons for $2.90 from rose to fairy floss and matcha, vanilla, salted caramel and coconut. Alongside there were larger individual desserts which I tried, the pistachio and strawberry. It was absolute golden, a lot better than the lychee and rose I had tried from LuxBite. Their cream puffs ranged from the basic, vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate to coffee, mango passion, pistachio and raspberry. They also have their special of the day, which by the name, obviously changes by day. Those flavours are much more exquisite.

Pistachio and Strawberry $8.90
Matcha $2.90
Vanilla $2.90
Anyway we had our macaroons to sit in the the little room at the back was themed to its culture, featured by an Eiffle Tower and a fireplace with furniture that very much replicate the bakeries in France I assume.

Would recommend if you're ever craving sweets! Can not express my love for the pistachio and strawberry macaroon. The Pastisserie also specialises in cake towers, macaroon cakes and orders for special events so there's some insight if you're ever planning something.

  1. I'm a sucker for a French accent when being served food too!
