Hidden in its own street of industrial companies, Fat Bob's has been highlighted and has remained part of the top 10 burger joints in Melbourne by the Herald Sun and I can see why. Although it may look small, the bar is beyond imaginable. It's showered with luminance lights to replicate the old country drives of America screaming of beers and radio stations, hotels and slogans of all kind and opens up to an outside eatery into an american rock and roll meet station for the kids of the 80s.
What I love most about this place has got to be the vibrant atmosphere, of course after their burgers. I tried the Jackie O Burger which is one of the most basic burgers you can get
(180g grass-fed beef pattie, tomato, spanish onion, fontina cheese, cos, mustard, tomato & Fat Bob's special sauce) as well as their chips and even better, the pricing range for their burgers aren't high at all. $15.50 and the proportion is huge already. The only adjustment I would make for the burgers is having brioche buns so that it's not just soft with potential to become soggy and perhaps make the chips crispier. Other than that, I don't think Fat Bob's fits in with the category of being hyped and overrated. It's hyped and should be hyped for all the right reasons.
And of course, a place with these standards will be messy and packed but I definitely recommend nonetheless!
