Tucked in the corner of the neighbourhood's shopping strips, the used to be milk-bar has risen in fame with its school themed takeaway store. While sophistication lays across from it by the Glen Eira Town Hall, the little enclosed store is laid back with their staffs and design. Heading in, customers are met by the chalk drawn hopscotch which presents its title "Tuckshop" and just like little old school retro cafes in America are, the store gives the vibes of roller-skates and 90s music (except it's a little too small to really skate around).

The menu is presented on a painted blackboard on top of the kitchen and orders are pen and paper taken, truly old school, I love it. Across from the kitchen holds their tart stand, soft serve machine and milkshake maker, keeping with the school-theme as you can see. Their use of the "hello my name is" badge to introduce the tarts and unique range of milkshakes served with colourful paper straws really tops it up. Their soft serve flavours changes as the days goes by and even better, they're as unique as can be. On the day I went, the flavour was Anzac Biscuits. Yes you've read right, if you can find that flavour anywhere, do let me know because I haven't seen it. Their back-room is even labelled the "Principle's Office", again matching the theme.

A group of us decided to go for lunch one afternoon and while it is really placed in such a random area (not busy cafe strip), the travel was worth every second with our servings. I decided to get a Junior Burger, shared basket of chips and a Salted Fantale Milkshake. In all honesty, i was not let down by any of my choices. The Junior Burger was the perfect size, not too big, not too small, nothing for it to get messy and it tasted just as good as it looked. The bread was toasted slightly, not too sweet and of course, soft but not soft enough to be soaked in their "Tuckshop Sauce" which was basically like mustard but less tangy and this says a lot because i'm not much of a sauce fan, but this one won me over. Their chips are hand-cut and are cripsy and soft in all the right places. I would say their milkshakes are my favourite because their range is so different compared to every other cafe. They use the flavours of the most popular wrapped sweets back then, yes we're talking like generations back, no KitKat or cadbury hype yet and Nutella, how could you not have nutella with a menu like this regardless. You really do get what you pay for here. $4.50 for the junior burger but you can tell the patty is 100% beef and was definitely filling for the stomach with the additional chips and milkshake.
Junior Burger, Small Fantale Milkshake and Handcut Chips
My friend and I ordered together, 2 junior burgers ($4.50 each), large chips ($5) and small milkshake ($7) and it came down to $21 yet we nearly could not finish it all, seriously, you get what you pay for! $11 per person, not bad at all. The way they present their food is so cute as well, I saw photos and they were in trays just like an American cafeteria but the baskets work just as well and look at that flag! "B is for Burgers"

Yes, yes it is, B is for one of the greatest burgers; love their font, love their design, love their food. I'll definitely be coming back.
