Close by South Yarra Station, a few doors down from the sweet scented dessert store LuxBite, holds the cute little cafe, Picnic and just as it sounds, the cafe is dominated by indie decor and hey if you look, you may just see their picnic basket! Breakfast and Lunch specials are chalked upon painted blackboards, walls are cluttered with maps, artworks, photos and frames, everything an adventurous child longing for (n) derive (french) would do if they had the freedom to decorate their room without fear and limitations.

The cafe has an urban organic interior with customers coming in and out at a  moderate pace, not too fast for it to be crowded but not too slow for it to be empty, and I think that's the best kind of business anyone would want. The menu is limited but not the kind that makes you question if you really want to be here. It's more like a collaboration of the best kind of breakfast served all day, and burgers (Yes lunch is just burgers and a few wraps), so you're bound to find something that suits your taste!

Traditional Burger with the Lot ($15.50)
My friend and I decided to half a burger that day and got the Traditional Burger with the Lot which consists of Beef, Bacon, Fried Egg, Cheese, Tomatoes, Pickles, Mixed Salad and Mustard served with Chips and Garlic Sauce Dip. The Burger was cooked to perfection, the bread was aromatic, warmed and soft, the kind that melts in your mouth and beef patty not dry at all. The chips reminded me of Schnitz Chips and they're perfect so, I can't complain about our serving at all. The Burger was big enough for two, we could barely finish the plate but perhaps that's because we had Pressed Juice before or maybe, we just have small stomachs, either way, it's big and knowing theres no right way to eat a burger, i ended up using my fork and knife. Oops.

I will have to return to try the rest of their menus though, perhaps breakfast next time and they did have a good range of tea and smoothies. Look out for a second review
